Dr. Nakshabandi draws from 10 years of psychiatric training experience across a wide range of settings including Harvard Medical School, The University of Chicago, The Department of Veterans Affairs and over 40 different sites across two continents. Dr. Nakshabandi has extensive knowledge on a wide array of therapeutic techniques, medication management algorithms, and complementary approaches to treatment. His treatment approach is rooted in empathy and strives to heal by evoking it. 

This organization was formed to fulfill a mission to advocate for and promote empathy through public awareness, education, humanitarian work, and mental health consultations & services.

Lou Agosta, PhD, is the author of three academic books on empathy, including a Rumor of Empathy (2015).  As an educator, he teaches empathy in the history and systems of psychology program at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. He is also an assistant professor in the medical humanities at Ross University Medical School and teachers psychotherapeutic interventions to medical students at Saint Anthony Hospital, Chicago. He occasionally offers a course entitled A Rumor of Empathy at the University of Chicago Graham School of Continuing Education. He has earned training certificates in ending Domestic Violence and Partner Abuse Intervention Training from Apna Ghar (Our Home) and the Center for Advancing Domestic Peace, respectively. Lou completed a PhD in philosophy entitled “Empathy and Interpretation” at the University of Chicago. In addition to being the Director of Education at Empathic Resonance, he is a psychotherapist in private practice in Chicago’s Edgewater Community, "on the forward edge in Edgewater."
